Top-up

Need more? Borrow against what you have already repaid.

A top-up adds to a loan you are already servicing rather than opening a new one. Because the lender already has your repayment history, it is often cheaper and faster than a fresh personal loan — and it does not add another EMI date to your month.

A second personal loan is the obvious move. It is usually the expensive one.

How it works

  1. 01

See what you have already paid down

Finsa reads your report and shows each loan's outstanding against what was sanctioned. Checking is free and is a soft enquiry, so it never affects your credit score.

  2. 02

Check top-up against a fresh loan

The two are priced differently. Which one is cheaper depends on your history with the existing lender and how much of the loan you have cleared.

  3. 03

    Let the lenders answer

Your existing lender is not the only one who can help. The request goes to 30+ of them.

Questions people ask

Is a top-up cheaper than a new personal loan?
Often, because the lender already holds your repayment record and the loan is secured against a commitment you have been meeting. Not always — it depends on the lender and how much you have repaid, which is why comparing both is worth the two minutes.
How much can I top up?
It depends on how much of the original loan you have cleared, your income, and the lender's policy. There is no single number, and any site quoting you one before seeing your file is guessing.
Does a top-up change my EMI?
Usually yes — either a higher EMI over the same tenure, or the same EMI over a longer one. The lender will set out both in the Key Fact Statement before you sign.
